In Astanga yoga the jump backs and jump throughs run like a thread through the seated postures and link them together. These transitional elements are sometimes frustrating, but they can become enjoyable and when understood properly they will deepen the experience of Astanga yoga.
On a physical level the jump backs and throughs will add and test strength and stamina, but they have also a deeper meaning and aspect, as part of the traditional vinyasa system.
