In understanding what our teachers aim to help us with we gain access to understanding the asana from yet another angle. In learning to help others we understand our own situation a bit more too. Trying to figure out how to help another body working on something perhaps completely different from what I am working on in my own body can be very helpful in understanding of the own asana practice.
Maria would like to offer that opportunity to all, so welcome to explore the art of asana adjustment.
Of course if you are a teacher and already in on the fun and hard work of adjusting, come too and let’s see what another pair of eyes and hands can offer you!
Maria has had the pleasure and honor of learning adjustments from two renowned teachers, Duncan Wong and Petri Räisänen. She has done three different massage trainings and pushed and pulled a few bodies as a dancer/yogini/teacher and just being a regular yoga nerd thru the years. She is happy to share what she has learned so far and since every body has a lesson to teach a teacher, she’s happy to learn from you as well.
We start by talking about giving and receiving in general, body & asanas also in general to then go thru some key seated, standing and finishing poses focusing from the first series in the ashtanga method. Depending on who’s in the room the focus can shift but somewhere during the hrs we will take a break, 18.30ish, depending on how we work thru the agenda.
