Mysore Yoga CPH - Copenhagen - København - FrederiksbergMother and grandmother. Started Astanga yoga in 2001.

Why did you start practicing?

A friend asked me to join her on her first class. I didn’t hesitate for a second. There was no reason to not give it a chance. I had no idea what Astanga was. I got started because it made sense and I haven’t stopped since. First I practiced just once or twice a week, but over the years it has become a daily routine.

What inspires you to keep practicing?

The beginning was extremely challenging. I felt like I was made of stone, and I wasn’t so connected to myself on a deeper level. However, I didn’t want to give up. However, I didn’t want to give up. The ongoing practice has opened me in many ways and kept on revealing new layers. First I started calming down and ever since the practice has become more and more enjoyable.

What are the benefits of the practice for you?

I feel closer to myself and generally I feel lighter, cleaner, more energized and there’s just simply more clarity in my mind. The practice has broadened my perspective of life, especially since the addition of a daily pranayama practice.

When I started, it was hard to foresee the benefits of the practice, but now I sense a light and happiness in my life. This was the right path for me. The path is internal where I connect with myself, and it has also introduced me to many wonderful teachers and other practitioners, from whom I keep learning and receiving lots of positive things.
