Why did you start practicing?
I started practicing because I was looking for a daily practice that depended only on my own committment.
Why Astanga and Mysore style practice?
Starting Astanga yoga happened a lot by chance. I went to an intro session and felt that me and Astanga had always belonged together, we’d just been away from each other for a while. As I have always enjoyed moving and working with my body, I was looking for physical challenge as well. Having first tried mysore style practice I fell in love at an instant. I realised that not only was the practice physical, there was a very stong mental element included too. I experienced being confronted with all my mental habitual patterns in a very physical way, which really gave me, and still gives, the chance to explore them closely and in-depth.
What inspires you to keep practicing?
Every session on the mat inspires me because it reminds me of being present with myself and my experience, no matter what’s the nature of this experience. To put all this together: the regular practice of Astanga supports my spiritual journey of discovering what I am by gradually revealing what I am not!
